Aitor Ucar


Aitor Ucar (San Sebastian, 1989) did his first approach to the guitar at age of 8 with J. Melchor. He continued discovering the guitar in the local conservatory with teachers E. Baranzano and X. Lasa and he studied the bachelor in classical guitar in the Higher School of Musik of Basque Country Musikene with M. Socías and A. Duro. In 2015 he finished a MA in music performance at the Hochschule der Künste Bern with E. Casoli and now he is attending a MA in Music Pedagogy in the same institution.

His training has been completed with great personalities like: A. Garrobé, D. Russell, A. Pierri, Z. Dukic, J. Ruck, C. Trepat, T. Muller-Pering or P. Marquez.

He has performed as a soloist or in chamber music groups such as Duo 2028 or Duo Hausoka in many of Spanish cities as well as Switzerland, Portugal, England or Colombia. He has also given concerts in festivals such as Sinkro electronic music festival, International Guitar Festival "Ciudad de Nájera" or Quincena Musical de San Sebastian. Aitor has been awarded in various international competitions such as “Guitarras Admira” competition, Guitar Competition "Ciutat d'Elx" or Guitar Competition "José Tomás-Villa de petrer".

His interest in contemporary music has given him the opportunity to work with composers such as: J.M. Sánchez-Verdú, L. Brouwer, R. Lazkano, N. Erissman, N. Ferrando or M. Matamoro and to make the premiere of composers such A. Edler- Copes, Z. Gerenebarrena or C Peralta among others. He also collaborate with Ciklus Ensemble.
